Our client helps schools and Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs) manage health, safety and fire compliance with confidence.

Well-known for their compliance and HR provision, our client was keen to increase awareness of their tailored health and safety and fire safety support. Although enquiries were rising, most were reactive – triggered by inspections or urgent issues. The opportunity was clear: start conversations earlier and help schools embed a more proactive, whole-school approach to safety.

Blueberry ran a focused lead-generation and appointment-setting campaign, engaging decision-makers who shape compliance strategy within schools and trusts to turn reactive demand into a sustainable pipeline of high-quality opportunities.

  • 138 qualified opportunities identified, including 67 booked appointments with MATs and 71 warm or longer-term prospects

The Challenge

Health and safety is critical in schools, but it rarely feels urgent until something goes wrong. With inspections, staffing pressures and safeguarding responsibilities competing for attention, leaders can easily assume existing measures are sufficient.

Our client set out to change that mindset – replacing reactive, inspection-led responses with a proactive safety culture embedded across leadership and staff. A strong customer base existed, but awareness of their full service scope was limited, and the data to support cross-selling was underutilised. Unlocking this potential required a structured, targeted approach.

Our Approach

Trust was the starting point. Working closely with the client, Blueberry supported the development of a data-led strategy, working closely with the client to prioritise schools and trusts already engaging with complementary services. By identifying customers whose existing provision naturally aligned with health and safety as a logical next step, we were able to focus on clear, high-propensity cross-sell opportunities rather than broad, untargeted outreach.

We spoke with decision-makers to identify renewal points and uncover gaps in provision. Where timing aligned, meetings were secured. Where it didn’t, opportunities were logged with clear context and agreed follow-up, while as an alternative route to engagement, prospects not yet ready for a 1 to 1 conversation were invited to a webinar – maintaining relationships while building a future pipeline.

We gained valuable insight into how decisions are made within schools and MATs: who influences them, when contracts are reviewed and what typically prompts change.

By remaining flexible and refining our approach as patterns emerged, we delivered more than appointments – we created a clearer, more confident route to engaging schools.
